The Brief: To introduce Borovička, a traditional and distinctive Slovak distillate, to the UK market. This is a collaborative project between Royal Spirits, who, as the sole UK importer, partnered with Old Herold, the owner of the world's oldest Borovička patent. The primary objective was to launch a marketing campaign, designed for later extension, aimed at bringing awareness to a new audience. Borovička has a very captivating heritage and unique distillation process involving juniper berries, which we wanted to represent throughout this project, ultimately developing initial brand awareness and product intrigue.

Our creative strategy centred on visually embodying Borovička's unique identity as The Spirit of the Forest. The primary campaign poster drew deep inspiration from traditional Slavic folklore, echoed in the colour palette and carefully selected font choices that evoke a sense of mystery and natural purity. This design aimed to capture the soul of the drink's origin and distinct character. A key consideration for the primary poster was its intended placement within busy European mini/supermarkets across the UK. These environments are typically vibrant and often overcrowded.

Our creative strategy centred on visually embodying Borovička's unique identity as The Spirit of the Forest. Creative Approach & Solution

Instead of attempting to compete by shouting louder with equally intense colours, we opted for a strategic contrast, adopting a visual silence. The poster was designed with an aesthetic mimicking a film poster, featuring dark, muted, and calming colours, natural and organic imagery, and traditional font choices. This deliberate opposition to its surroundings ensures the poster stands out, not by overwhelming, but by offering a standout-ish and intriguing visual.

Each poster in this collection was inspired by official Old Herold cocktail recipes, designed to emphasise their individual personalities, distinct flavour profiles, and visual presentation.

Through soft watercolour illustrations, fresh ingredient imagery, and the full recipe, we invite the consumers to explore and experience the versatility of the distillate. This approach adds engaging content, encouraging direct interaction with the product.
